Export Related - Various types of cargo (bagged, unpacked, heavy lifts, grains, chemicals, steel, metals, project cargoes, etc) for export can be carted and stored at our facility. Navkar has the space and equipment for off-loading and stacking all cargoes in the warehouse or in a secure area. Cargoes in larger quantities arriving in wagons by rail are handled at our rail siding within the CFS and then stuffed into containers for exports. Containers after stuffing are then transported on trailers or rail to Nhava Sheva (JNPT) for loading onto the designated ships.

Import Related - Import containers are transported from the port to our CFS by rail and road. Thereafter they are stored at the CFS, pending completion of customs formalities and after clearance duly delivered to the consignee for removal to his factory. Arrangements are also made for those import containers that require to be destuffed at the CFS itself. In such cases, the empty container after destuffing is moved to the nominated point of the shipping line.

Consolidation - Navkar has earmarked area in the warehouse for consolidation of cargoes ( LCL - Less-than-container load). This arrangement is used for both export and import cargoes. Many shipping lines have nominated areas for consolidating small export consignments which can be later stuffed into a single container for export to a hub destination.

Rail Terminal (EXIM Cargoes) - There are many export consignments that move in large quantities (about 2000 mt to 2700 mt) and thus arrive at our facility in wagons of the Indian Railways. These are usually agro commodities (rice, sugar, wheat, maize, soya bean meal, etc) in addiiton to heavy cargo like steel etc. After arrival at our terminal, the cargoes are off-loaded from the trains and stuffed into nominated containers and transported to the port. Besides this, our CFS operates container trains between JNPT Port and Somanathan CFS for export and import containers. Use of container trains helps avoid the congestion on the roads leading to the gate of the port and ensures eco-friendly transportation. Rail movement gives the added value of extra free days of storage in port.

Rail Terminal (Domestic) - Navkar also has a rail siding for domestic movement of cargoes. Products required at various destinations are loaded here and moved to distant inland destinations

Reefer Containers - All refrigerated containers (reefers) are handled at our CFS. With 92 plug points reefer cargoes are regularly stuffed for export as well as destuffed for clearance by consignees. Temperate-controlled cargoes are stored in cold chambers at our CFSs and cleared for exports and imports as required. To and fro movement between port and CFS is carried out on trailers fitted with power-packs so as to ensure maintenance of set temperatures.

Temperature-controlled Chambers (Cold Storage) - Our CFSs have a separate temperature-controlled warehouse. Many exporters require services where their import cargoes can be stored after destuffing the reefer container or for their export cargo prior stuffing of the container.

Warehousing - Import and export cargoes have a requirement to be warehoused prior to shipment or pre/post delivery. This results in a need for warehousing such cargoes - in a safe and secure manner. This is easily carried out at our CFSs. All facilities for carrying out surveys, fumigation, packing, labelling, bar-coding and all related activities can be carried out at the warehouses.

Bonded Warehouse - Import shipments occasionally require cargoes to be bonded and thereafter to be cleared in either small parcels or in entirety. Such consignments are kept in bonded warehouses. By having such a space, importers have a facility of keeping their imported goods without paying customs duty for a period of time as regulated by the Customs Department and clearing them for their use at intervals where deemed fit.

CFS for handlig hazardous cargo - Two of the three CFSs of Navkar, have been duly approved by the Customs Department for storing and handling hazardous cargoes. All categories of hazardous cargoes which are classed in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code can be handled at these container freight stations. Hazardous goods require continuous surveillance with constant monitoring capability supported by fire-fighting arrangements for emergencies. Navkar has the capability to handle it all.

Project Cargoes - Cargoes arriving for projects are rarely uniform in size or shape. They tend to stretch the dimensional capability of every point in the infrastructure - be it roads, or bridges. Dismantled equipment of factories, stock and barrel are regularly handled at Navkar facilities. Navkar is well-equipped to manage all such Over-Dimensional Cargoes ( ODC) and Out-Of-Gauge (OOG) cargoes. Special arrangements are required for transporting heavy lifts and our CFS carries out these functions with ease and strict safety.

Customs & Plant and Quarantine
Facility -
Navkar CFS has a complete customs facility for examining and clearance of cargoes. Additionally the Plant and Quarantine authorities have set up a unit for inspection and approval of agro cargoes and food products which is a statutory requirement for imports and exports of such nature. Samples are drawn by the Plant & Quarantine Unit (PQU) as per the norms and regulations set down by the Government of India and testing/analysis done. This expedites the process of import and export as required.

Buffer Yard - Many exporters stuff the cargoes at their factories under excise supervision and seal. Such containers can be brought into our buffer yard, where arrangements can be made to process the papers and obtain the mandatory "Let Export Order" (or LEO as it is called). In cases, where required, such containers are stored to facilitate clearance processes. It is a convenient facility as many exporters prefer bringing their boxes from different locations and drop off such containers at Navkar Buffer Yard and return to bring more laden boxes. By doing so they save a lot on time and transportation costs and bring in more efficiency into their supply chain.

Empty Container Storage - Our CFS has the added facility of an Empty Container Depot that can store a large number of empty containers. All container shipping lines have a requirement for storage of empty containers, which when coupled with a "Maintenance & Repair" set-up assists them for a quick turnaround of their containers.

Maintenance And Repair - Navkar carries out repairs to all types of containers as per the requirements of various shipping lines. Every container is meticulously inspected and surveyed and directives as issued by the container shipping lines are strictly adhered to. Washing, cleaning and removal of debris, left-overs, old stickers is carried out to get the containers ready for the next cargo.
